RADS was formed in the summer of 2011 by a group of drama enthusiasts in the Rathmines area, most of whom had undertaken the excelent drama courses on offer in Rathmines College every year. Our first show was in December 2011 in the Lower Deck pub, a one act play called Spreading the News, set in the early 20th century in the west of Ireland. Our next show was in June 2012 in the beautiful Bowling club hall in Grosvenor Square and our most recent play took place in Scoil Bhride in Ranelagh. Our shows generally consist of 2 or 3 one-act plays, each about 20 to 30 minutes long, we feel this format allows everyone in the group to have a part in a play, as our philosophy is inclusion for all members in our activities. We always welcome new members, whether they have any acting experience or not.
Any enquiries can be sent to info@rathminesdrama.com and we'll promptly reply. We do not charge for membership and everyone is assigned a certain roll based on their strengths, for example I administer the website, others might source scripts, or manage the accounts etc. These positions are decided by an annual committee meeting where a president is elected.
